I think I'm allergic to home. So much so that the moment I'm back in Singpaore, I'm feeling sick. My back aches, I feel old and I can feel a fever building. I hope this doesn't drag till Friday cause being sick on the first day of work sucks...

It's been ages since I visited Malaysia. I used to go in every three months and stuff but now, we're all busy doing our own stuff and we only get the chance to travel once a year so it's always been somewhere far. Malaysia has not been on our holiday list for a very VERY long time so since this year I can't see myself going for an end of the year holiday, we decided to go for a short trip before I start work at Visuals... Very last minute, very rushed and a very short trip but it was interesting.

Destination: Malacca
Transportation: Coach
Departure Time: 8.00 AM

So we had to drag ourselves out of bed at 6.00 AM and that was the start of a very long bus ride into the hearts? of Malaysia. This time, my mum managed to drag my cousin and grandma along so it's fun in a way I guess. Malacca is... A really laid-back city, not as fast moving as KL or JB but it's nice to go back to the kampong kind of lifestyle where the houses are no more than 2 stories high, zinc-roofed, chickens running around and at one point, there were even cows. Really reminded me of my grandmother's kampong. My dad's Malaysian and it's been AGES since we went back to his kampong or even visited my grandmother or that matter so yeah.

Our nice but leaky resort

The resort (I won't call it a hotel cause its not that classy as that of a hotel) was.. Leaky. No I'm serious. Our bathroom had a leaky ceiling so my mum requested for a room change and turns out, everywhere in that resort leaks. As long as there's an air-con vent, it leaks. I have no idea why cause it certainly didn't seem that old to me. Food wise, it was edible, not fantastic. I can safely say that I prefer the parsar malam food to the resort's food. Cheaper and yummier so definately better. =] Had some really interesting food like chicken rice balls. (I'm not kidding! The chicken rice there came in rice balls! Like how cool is that man?) And the lost and NEVER found A&W.

Chicken rice balls

Although it was a short 4 days and it wasn't the best holiday ever, it was a nice break I guess. Time spent with family is always nice. Didn't exactly go trigger happy either cause Malacca is well... Malacca.

Oh and guess what? When I was there, I was seriously thinking if I could live with this kind of lifestyle. Laidback, simple lifestyle, kampong style and you know what? I think I could! Not forever and ever but I actually learnt to appreciate the old tiled floors and the simplicity of it all and it was kinda nice. I don't know how to say it lah but like you know how some people feel bored and think that it is like a total no way for them? I actually thought it pretty cool... Ah what am I saying? It's just nice to get away from all the fast-paced action and whatnot and slow down abit to take in what's almost gone in Singapore....

I've been indulging in sinful desserts these few days I can actually feel the fats building up and gathering on my fat arse. The last being on Sunday, at this cafe/restaurant called Big O's at Wheelock Place, and the desserts there are to die for. Extremely rich in chocolate, extremely generous with the nuts and I only have one advice for all. Don't go there alone. Either go with a BIG group of friends so you can order different types of cakes/ice creams/whatever and try it all, or go with friends who don't mind growing fat with you cause seriously, eating all that alone is too much for one person alone and at least, you won't feel that guilty cause your friends are having indulging in the same sinful foods as you...

I've been rotting at home and making full use of my time to catch up on sleep and to get rid of all that dark rings and whatnot that I've accumulated since starting work at DV9 and I'll be starting work soon at Visuals. I still haven't gotten down to going to get a haircut simply cause I can't seem to find time to get my stupid hair cut. Ah, I'm just looking for a thousand and one reasons and being stupid cause I get all irritated with my hair but I don't actually do anything about it. Haha and if I really wanna go on that trip and I really wanna get that ibook, I should seriously start saving man. It's at times like these that I wish money would grow on trees..

Happy Mother's Day!!

Presents!!

Firstly... Flowers, although very impractical since flowers wither and wilt, but very good to look at and they work very well. A very sweet gesture for all mothers...

Jem had this one in the bag since he got up early, went to the market to get these beautiful flowers. A BIG plus point for the very very nice packaging. Left it on the table beside her specs so it was the first thing mother dearest saw when she got up. She apparently jumped on the poor boy who went back to sleep and demanded to know details which he didn't give. Well, all I can say is: Smart move brother, since it put mother in a very very good mood.

Then off to Habourfront for lunch at this cosy little French restaurant which served really good dessert. All the dessert came in a big plate with icing sugar and a chocolate powered Eiffel Tower. I would seriously have licked the plate clean if it weren't for the venue. Very nice. =] That was probably the one time I got to try so many different desserts at one go. Sweets for my sweet~

Chocolate Éclair

Crème Brûlée And finally, the one dessert that represents... LOVE!

Tiramisu~

Our timing was a little off since we went for dessert before actually going for lunch, which was at some noodle restaurant.

Last but not least, being the very practical person that my mother is, we made her a box to put all her jewellery/earrings/whatnot in, which we have yet to give her since the puffy paint on the front has not dried yet. Oh and it was done by.... ME!!! Haha. I'm good right? =D

Okie, fine, its not that difficult to do but give me some credit lah! Wanted to paint it on since it'll be more obvious but came to the conclusion that the paint will get scrapped off so decided to use puffy paint instead. Why the Clear colour? (Wait, clear is not a colour. It's... Ah whatever) Well, it so happens that was the only colour I had and I didn't want to go get a new bottle just for this so yeah.

Above was how the three of us musketeers spent Mother's Day with our mother dearest, and so that makes her a happy mother... I hope. Haha I just realised that this whole post has alot of 'Mother' in it. Well, today is just another one of those days I realised how much I love my mum and how fortunate I really am to have such a wonderful person in my life... Love ya loads Ma! =]

Okie blogger's layout today is a little screwed, I have no idea why I'm still typing... Anyway, today has been a really really.. What's the word to use? Erm, weird? Unexpected? Not usual? I dunno. Well, Saturday is usually spent sleeping in and rotting at home, not doing anything in particular but today's different. For one, I went for the SIA 60th Anniversary Charity Run/Walk at Changi! Unbelievable right? Haha, the tofu me actually went for an event like that even I, myself found it hard to believe. And it's not as if I haven't been exercising since my secondary school days okie. I've been making an effort to go swimming and jogging twice a week so when it came to the run/walk today, I didn't die. In fact, if it wasn't for my knee, I think I could have ran for a longer period of time.

Proof!

It was held at the SIA Sports Club which was really nice, and we had to run/walk 6km, starting from the sports club all the way to Expo and back. So yeah. Plenty of aunties and uncles, and surprisingly, SIA has some pretty fit people too! My mum took part in the 6km walk thing so I was supposed to go with my sister to exercise but in the end, my sister chose to pang sei us so my mum dragged my brother along instead... Haha it was fun to see how enthusiastic aunties and uncles can be lah. Oh and there was a fancy dress category where there was a team of guys who dressed up as horror movie characters which was pretty darn funny if you'd ask me cause there was the scream guy, freddy or was it nightmare on elms street? Mike Myers and some reggae guy with dreadlocks all running. Don't know if they won though.

Food there was pretty decent and you know what.. It feels really good to sweat it all out. I'm not being cheesy or whatever but today was different compared to the normal jogging around the neighbourhood. It's.. Hiyah it just feels better la. Oh and guess what? Mother's team won for the most number of years working in SIA that when the deejay announced the winner for that category, I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. It's like saying they're all old aunties working for that long a period to win that prize lah... Dots.

Suprisingly, I'm not aching. Yet. And I'm not exactly very tired as well. Oh well, I've probably been thinking about this for a really really long time already but... I NEED A HAIRCUT! I'm kinda bored with my current hairstyle and but I probably won't do anything drastic cause I wanna see how long I can keep my hair up till until I get irritated, so..

Current addiction: Mangoes. I woke up one morning craving mangoes and coincidentally, there were a few slices in the fridge so I had mangoes for breakfast which gave me a stomach ache. I've been having these food cravings for sometime now and they seem to be the weirdest food ever. Mangoes seem pretty normal but before them was banana prata, and before that was sugarcane with lemon. Oh and now, I seem to prefer eating bread rather than rice. Will I die from the lack of vitamin B and get beri beri? Yes, I know, I have weird eating habits.

And so Monday was a horrible day. Horrible start, horrible end, so horrible I was just thankful I'm leaving the company. I just started work 2 hours ago and already, I can't wait till the end of the day. Oh and yeah, I got the job at Visual Studios. It's at Eunos which is waaayyy nearer than coming to Sembawang everyday, starts later although it ends later but well, I'm not complaining cause I get to wake up one hour later, and the people there seem nice. It's an advertising firm and hopefully I'll survive, although I have been warned about the stress level there and the endless projects and stuff, it's what I wanted to do instead of doing web stuff and boring coding so yay!

But you know what? Because of this, the chances of being able to go to Taiwan in July/Aug is becoming less and less possible. My mum was asking me to sometime this month, before I start work at Visual Studios but then again, how about yl? I seriously don't think she has the cash to go and neither does she want to go so soon right? Hmmm.. Maybe sometime during December I guess.. Experience Christmas in Taiwan. I'll be something different. After all, spending Christmas in some other country other than Singapore is always nice.

What a wonderful world~
